Formal Classes and Workshops on Writing

YMCA Downtown Writers Center (DWC). Classes and workshops are usually 6 or 8 weeks per session, four sessions per year. DWC members receive a discount. All tuitions are very affordable.  Occasionally, some workshops are one or multiple days. 



Fun Writing Events and Activities

NaNoWriMo - National Novel Writing Month (November). Usually, the goal is 50K words during the month, or 1667 words/day. No need to sign up. Just find some buddies (such as local libraries) or online groups to be your supporting and accountability buddies and do it!

1000WordsOfSummer. This event was initiated by Jami Attenberg several years ago. It became an annual event with a large following. It occurs in the first two weeks of June. The goal is 1000 words per day.  You can find more at https://substack.com/@1000wordsofsummer. You can also find several "mini 1000" events on the website, such as Labor Day 5000 words for five days.
